Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar Liven Up this Traditional Succulent Sandwich!
- 2 lbs. steak (sirloin, sirloin tip, round, blade). Trim fat & slice 1 1/2 " thick
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp. (15 ml) brown sugar
- 1 tsp. (5 ml) salt
- 1 tsp. (5 ml) ground pepper
- 1 tsp. (5 ml) olive oil
ONIONS:
- 2 tbsp. (25 ml) olive oil
- 4 large onions, sliced thin
- 1 tbsp. (15 ml) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50 ml) balsamic vinegar
- salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
1.Combine sugar, garlic, salt & pepper. Brush steak with oil & rub with sugar mixture. Marinate 30 minutes or overnight in refrigerator
2.Meanwhile, prepare onion by heating 2 tbsp. (25 ml) oil in large deep non stick skillet on medium-high heat. Add onions. Cook 15-20 minutes or until brown (stir as required). Add sugar & vinegar; cook gently adding water if necessary until onions are tender. Season with salt & pepper & keep warm.
3.Grill steak 4-6 minutes per side to medium-rare. Rest steak approx. 5 minutes before carving on diagonal
4.Cut baguette into 4 pieces & each piece in half horizontally. Top with steak & onions. Serve & enjoy.
