Our young Ontario goats are raised on free-range pasture land. And like all of our animals, they are treated with maximum care and kindness for a stress-free life.
Our goat herd is raised on no-spray organic grasslands, where they are free to roam all spring, summer and fall. Over the winter, they eat 100% non-GMO grass and hay, cut from the same naturally-grown pastures, plus supplemental fresh greens and whole grains.
They are raised without antibiotics or any other drugs, medications, or growth promoters. Just all-natural, free-range goats, grown the way our great-grandparents did.
We think that this makes for the best-tasting goat meat you can find anywhere.
Goat meat is also known as chevon, capretto, cabrito, yagisashi, or kid. The meat is savoury, and slightly sweeter than lamb — some goat can be gamey, but our meat comes exclusively from young goats, and is mild yet rich in flavour.
Goat meat benefits from moist slow-cooking at low heat, which makes it an outstanding meat for stews and curries. Depending on the cut, it can also be absolutely delicious when grilled or barbequed.
Our goat is drug-free, antibiotic-free, raised on GMO-free & spray-free grass and hay, and with zero animal-product feeds. It is processed at a regulated, government inspected and family-owned local butcher shop, and is hand-butchered into individually vacuum-sealed cuts.
We offer our goat meat as a side, half-side, or whole goat, butchered into a nice selection of cuts for your freezer.
Choose the size of your goat order
You can choose a whole, half or quarter goat — just put down a small deposit to secure your order, and you can pay the balance on delivery. The final price is based on the dressed weight / hanging side weight of your goat:
- Whole goat — about 50 lbs — $13.45/pound dressed weight.
- Half goat — about 25 lbs — $13.95/pound dressed weight.
- Quarter goat — about 12.5 lbs — $14.45/pound dressed weight.
The above weights are based on the average dressed weight of a goat, which means the initial hanging weight of the sides before dry-aging and butchering. The total weight of your goat cuts will be approximately 72% of the dressed weight, after butchering into individual cuts and removal of unnecessary bone and fat. Your order balance will be based on the actual dressed weight of your particular goat.
A typical side of goat will yield:
- 2 lbs rack of ribs,
- 2 lbs loin chops,
- 4-5 lbs leg roasts,
- 3 lbs shoulder chops,
- 3-4 lbs ground.
- (No organ meats are available.)
A whole goat will give you double those amounts, and a quarter goat will give you half.
We deliver our goat meat to you fresh-frozen in individually vacuum-sealed cuts.
