Order grassfed or grain-finished beef by the side

Whispering Meadows brings you naturally-raised, grass-fed and grain finished beef that is free range and pasture raised with zero antibiotics or artificial hormones. Order online direct from our farm!If you have a chest freezer, and tend to enjoy a delicious beef meal at least a couple of times a week, then your best value is to order a whole, side or half-side of Whispering Meadows beef.  For most people, a side of beef will last you around a year, and will fill about a half of the volume of an average chest freezer.  Compared to buying the same amount of beef individually, a side of beef will save you around $1,495.  Depending on the quantity and type of beef you order this way, you will see a 24% to 31% savings.

Your whole, side, or half-side will be custom cut to your specifications.  It then gets packaged as individual cuts, labelled, and flash-frozen at its peak of freshness.

We price our sides of beef by dressed weight.  That means the weight of the full side when it is first hung to dry-age — around 375 pounds a side.  After dry-ageing, and removal of excess fat and bones, your beef cuts will end up about 67% of the dressed weight, around 250lbs of cuts from a side of beef.

We price our grassfed + grain-finished beef at $10.61/lb for a half-side, $10.30/lb for a side, and $9.86 for a whole beef.

Our 100% grassfed beef takes longer to grow to full size, and it’s priced at $12.59/lb for a half-side, $12.25/lb for a side, and $11.66/lb for a whole beef.

To order, we take a deposit of $125 for a half-side, $250 for a full side, or $500 for a whole beef (whole cow).  Your balance will then be calculated from the actual weight of your side(s), minus deposit.

Your deposit secures your order, with the balance due on pickup or delivery.  Shipping is free to Southern Ontario for orders that contain a whole, side or half-side of beef.

Butcher paper provides good protection to your meat, though it can occasionally result in some freezer burn after long-term storage. Vacuum sealing gives you the best protection from drying and freezer burn, for an additional 60¢/lb.
Sides are weighed when they are first hung to dry-age — this is called the dressed weight. After moisture loss, and removal of bones, fat, and waste, the final cut weight of your beef will be around 63-67% of the dressed weight.
